F.B.D. letters: to his children, 1900-1906Abstract:
Contains 3 letters of a man from New York sent west for his health. The first letter from Las Vegas Hot Springs, New Mexico
dated April 1, 1900 describes Santa Fe and Tesuque, New Mexico and the Tewa Pueblo peoples who lived there, and includes 13
cyanotypes of buildings in Santa Fe including the Exchange Hotel, the Old Governor's Palace, buildings in Tesuque including
the church, and of the Tewa people. The second letter from Santa Barbara, Calif. dated Feb. 21, 1905 discusses the possible
occurrence of earthquakes, costs and quality of everyday supplies, architecture, and includes 11 black and white prints of
examples of Santa Barbara architecture including Mission style and of Chinatown. The third letter from Las Vegas (Hot Springs),
New Mexico dated April 1, 1906 describes the town of Hot Springs, its architecture and the wide use of tents as living quarters,
the abundance of people who have come to the area for health reasons, ranch life and includes 8 cyanotypes of area architecture
and 2 of on top of a mountain, one with the author and the other of his wife.
